It has been stated that my Great Uncle (William R Whalen) was born in Rome NY and that my Grandparents (William F and Anna Whalen) lived their while working for the West Shore Railroad  But I Am Unsure Of These Facts!!!

It has been also told to me that my Grandfather ( George J Whalen) in his youth has stated that he was born in Rome NY rather than Schenectady NY because Rome is easier to spell and write down.

I believe that the West Shore Railroad either went through or ended near Rome, NY
